SSH

SSH stands for "secure shell protocol." It is a method by which a local computer can be used to securely communicate with another computer over an unsecured local network—or, just as commonly, over the unsecured Internet. Most commonly, SSH is used by computer administrators to manage remote machines or machines that do not have a screen attached. In this sense, SSH is a replacement for rlogin and Telnet, similar command-line protocols that lacked SSH's encryption capabilities.
